Biography
Stefan Pyatnychko

Stefan Pyatnychno was born on February 12, 1959 in the village of Gnylovody, now Gvardiyske of the Zolotnykiv community of the Ternopil district of the Ternopil region of Ukraine.

He graduated from the Lviv Music and Pedagogical School (1983), and later - the vocal faculty of the Lviv Conservatory (1988, class of professors P. Karmalyuk and O. Vrabel).

In 1988, he became a laureate of the second prize of the All-Union competition "New Names" (Moscow).

In 1989, he made his debut in the opera "Stolen Happiness" by Y. Meitus on the stage of the Lviv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Solomiya Krushelnytska. He worked at the Lviv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Solomia Krushelnytska.

In 1991, he won the first international competition of opera singers named after Solomia Krushelnytska in Lviv, and in 1993 he became a laureate and prize-winner of the Belvedere International Vocalist Competition in Vienna (Austria).

The concert and chamber repertoire consists of arias, romances, solos, folk songs of Ukrainian and world classics, as well as spiritual music, with which he toured in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, Italy, the Vatican, Belgium, the USA, Chile.

In 1998, the Austrian company ORF recorded and released on CD the opera "The Love of Three Kings" by the composer I. Montemezzi, in which S. Pyatnychko performed the role of Manfredo.

In 2001, a CD of Ukrainian folk songs "Thoughts are my thoughts" was released, recorded in Kyiv with the National Orchestra of Folk Instruments under the direction of People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize Viktor Hutsal and published in Canada by the Yevshan company.

In 2005, the Ukrainian studio "Santilena" released the works of Ukrainian composers on CD, performed with the "Galician Chamber Choir", conducted by People's Artist of Ukraine V. Yatsynyak.

Recordings of Ukrainian folk songs, solos, arias and romances performed by S. Pyatnych are stored in the "Golden Radio Fund" (of the former USSR), as well as in the funds of Ukrainian television and radio.

From 2008 to 2015, he combined work in the opera theater with teaching work at the solo singing department of the Lviv National Academy of Music named after M. V. Lysenko.

He performed in Austria, Italy, Canada, Germany, Poland, the Vatican, France, Belgium, Russia, Chile, Switzerland, the USA and other countries. Arias and songs have been recorded on radio, television, and CDs. On May 14, 2006, he participated in the artistic program "Ternopil Party 2006" at the Ternopil Academic Regional Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko.

S. Pyatnychko was repeatedly invited to various singing competitions.

As a member of the jury, he participated in:

- 1st All-Ukrainian Competition of Young Vocalists I. Malaniuk, 2007, Ivano-Frankivsk;

- II All-Ukrainian competition of young vocalists Teodor Teren-Yuskiv, 2008, Lviv;

- All-Ukrainian selection competition of vocalists "Maria Kalas. Grand PRI" 2008, Lviv;

- IV International Competition of Opera Singers named after S. Krushelnytska, 2009, Lviv;

- III All-Ukrainian Competition of Young Vocalists named after Iryny Malaniuk, 2011, Ivano-Frankivsk;

- IV Mykola Lysenko International Music Competition, 2012, Kyiv.

Graduates and students of S. Pyatnychka became laureates and graduates of various vocalist competitions.

In 2010, the jury of the All-Ukrainian competition of young vocalists named after Theodor Teren-Yuskiv awarded S. Pyatnych with a diploma "For high pedagogical skill".

He provided financial assistance for the reconstruction of the church, arrangement of the grave of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the family village.
