Ptycya Ivan

1895-1931

Ivan Ptytsia (1895-1931) was a bass singer and actor in the Dmytro Haidamaka troupe.

Originally from the Kharkiv region, he played in the troupe of Mykola Sadovsky. From 1915, he was a member of the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine, an organiser and director of camp theatres, including the prisoner of war camp in Freistadt and Czechoslovakia. He played Ivan in Karpenko-Kary's play Susta and Andriy in Mykola Lysenko's opera Taras Bulba.

He died of tuberculosis.
