Popichuk Dmitriy

Dmytro Georhiiovych Popychuk (Popichuk; born 15 November 1939 in the village of Mahala, now Novoselytsia district, Chernivtsi region) is a Ukrainian performer on folk instruments (cymbals and others). Honoured Artist of Ukraine since 1993. People's Artist of Ukraine since 1998.
In 1963, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (now the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine) under Mark Helis. The first graduate of the Conservatory in the class of cymbals, he worked there as a teacher for many years, brought up a whole galaxy of musicians (among them People's Artist of Ukraine Heorhiy Agratina).

Since 1959, he has worked as a soloist with the Song Ensemble of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting of the Ukrainian SSR and the Hryhorii Veryovka State Ukrainian Choir. Since 1992, he has been working as a conductor of the orchestral group at the State Bandura Choir of Ukraine (now the Heorhiy Maiboroda National Honoured Bandura Choir of Ukraine). Artistic director of the folklore ensemble "Kozaki".

Titles.
On 26 November 1993, he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to the development of musical art and culture, and high professional skills.

On 8 October 1998, he became People's Artist of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to the development of national art and his creative achievements.
