Volodymyr Stepanovych Pirus (8 October 1949, Sapohiv village, Halych district, Ivano-Frankivsk region) - Ukrainian singer (baritone) and teacher, professor, People's Artist of Ukraine (1998).
Biography.
Since 2 August 1968, he has been a soloist of the Hutsul Song and Dance Ensemble. He took part in thousands of concerts and meetings with the ensemble.
1979-2000 - soloist-vocalist of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Philharmonic.
His repertoire includes both Ukrainian folk songs and classical works by Ukrainian composers (in particular, M. Lysenko, K. Stetsenko, Y. Stepovyi, A. Kos-Anatolskyi), works by foreign classics, pop songs.
He has toured many countries, including Romania, Hungary, Poland, Canada, the USA, Germany, and France.
In 1998, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
Since 2000, without interrupting his concert activity, he has been teaching vocals at the Vasyl Stefanyk Educational and Research Institute of Arts of the Precarpathian National University, and since 2016 he has been a professor at the Department of Performing Arts.
