Pikus Olena Semenivna

Olena Semenivna Pikus (Russian: Пикус, Елена Семёновна) (born September 18, 1945, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region) is a Ukrainian composer.
Olena Semenivna spent her childhood in Kemerovo, where her family moved. She studied at the Central Children's Music School No. 1, majoring in piano, and in 1967 graduated from the Kemerovo Music College, majoring in piano (teachers: E. R. Gulyak, D. D. Chernyshov).

After moving to Donetsk, she worked as an accompanist in gymnastics, a choreographic school and the Donetsk Drama Theater.

Since 1989, as a writer, she has been traveling around the cities of Donetsk region with her performances. In 1991, she worked as the head of the literary department of the Donetsk Drama Theater.

Since 1992, she has been teaching "Orthodox Ethics" in seven kindergartens (two from the Zasyadko mine and five from the Tochmash plant) on behalf of the Donetsk diocese. In 1992-1995, she also worked as an assistant to Archpriest Mykhailo Oleksandrovych in the Sunday school of the diocesan St. Nicholas Cathedral in Donetsk.

Family.
Her father was Semen Pikus, an engineer, head of the nitrogen fertilizer plant's shop; an amateur musician, he played the violin, harp, balalaika, piano, and harmonium by ear; he staged Rachmaninoff's opera Aleko in the factory folk theater.

Composer.
She wrote her first piece of music at the age of five. The first sacred songs were written in the 1990s. For children's music schools, she has released collections of piano pieces "From Christmas to Easter" and "The Virgin Cycle". She composes songs for the Sunday school of the Holy Protection Church in Donetsk.

The cycle of romances was created in collaboration with the poets of the Lotus Literary Club at the N.K. Krupska Donetsk Regional Library. In 2009, as a greeting to Leonida Heorhiyivna's birthday, poems by the Lotus Club poets and a piano piece written by O. S. Pikus and dedicated to Leonida Heorhiyivna were sent to her. In response to the dedication, Madrid sent autographed photographs of the royal family, which O. S. Pikus still carefully keeps.

As a performer of his works, O. Pikus takes part in concerts held in schools, museums, libraries and Orthodox churches in Donetsk and Donetsk region.

She is a writer.
In 1983, she published a collection of novels and short stories "Where the Sounds of Music...", which included a story about a pianist who came to his hometown from the capital with a concert. The book was positively evaluated by professionals.
