Pikulsky Svyatoslav Mikhailovich

Sviatoslav Pikulsky (*30 September 1937, Liuboml, Volyn) is a Ukrainian opera singer (tenor), People's Artist of Ukraine, professor, head of the folk song performance section of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.

Biography.
He was born on 30 September 1937 in the town of Liuboml, Volyn.

In 1967-1969 he was a soloist at the Lviv Opera and Ballet Theatre. Since 1969, he has been a soloist with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.

Since 2011, he has been working as the head of the folk-song performance section of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. He teaches voice training, solo singing, and vocal teaching methods. Over the years, he has prepared and performed about 20 thematic solo chamber programmes, about ten solo parts of operas by domestic and foreign composers. He was the first Ukrainian performer of the main roles in D. Bortnyansky's operas Alcide (Fronim, premiered in 1984) and Falcon (Federico). He has about 24 hours of uninterrupted recordings in the collection of the National Radio Company of Ukraine.

In 1996, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

During 2004-2010, he held a large number of masterclasses in solo singing at the Jan Dlugosz Academy in Czestochowa (Poland).
