Pidkivka Oleh Mykhailovych

1947

Oleh Pidkivka is a Ukrainian choral conductor, regent, teacher, vocalist, composer, art critic, public and cultural figure. Artistic director and conductor of the Starosambir Amateur Folk Choir "Dnister" (since 2004).
He was born on 21.08.1947 in a Ukrainian peasant family in the village of Univ, Peremyshlyany district, Lviv region. He studied at the F. Kolessa Music and Pedagogical College in Lviv (1966-1971) and at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Conservatory, Conducting Faculty (now the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Music Academy), class of senior lecturer S. Ambartsumian and associate professor, People's Artist of Ukraine Y. Vakhniak (1972-1977).

For his services in the revival of the spirituality of Ukraine, he was awarded the Metropolitan's Diploma by Metropolitan Andriy of Lviv and Sokal of the UOC-KP (2007), the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2007) and numerous honorary awards, certificates and diplomas.

In 1971-1972 he worked as an artist of the state choir "Trembita" in Lviv. In 1972-1977 and 1996-2004, he worked as a teacher at the Obroshyno Children's Music School, and from 1977 to 1996 he worked as the director of the Velykolyubinske Children's Music School. During his main work at the Velykolyubinske and Obroshyno Children's Music Schools, he worked part-time as a music teacher at the secondary schools of the villages of Birche, Buchaly, and Stavchany. In 1992-1993, he worked as a teacher of conducting and vocals at the Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical Institute (now the Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University), from 2005 to 2012 he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Lviv Branch.

Over the years, he has worked as a conductor of numerous choirs, namely: conductor of the Exemplary Children's Bandura Players' Chapel "Dzvinochok" of the Lviv Palace of Schoolchildren and Youth (1972-1975). ) (once pioneers and schoolchildren), conductor of student choirs of vocational schools No. 27 (1972-1977), No. 28 (1973-1977 and 2001-2003), No. 4 (1974-1977) and the Lviv Art Lyceum (2003-2006), conductor of the folk vocal and choreographic ensemble "Dniester" of the Teacher's House in Lviv (1973-1976). Lviv (1973-1976), conductor of the men's folk choir "Surma" of the Lviv Palace of Culture of Vocational Education named after Yuri Gagarin (1974-1977), founder and conductor of the Palace of Happiness in Lviv (1973-1977). Lviv (1973-1977), conductor of the Veres Folk Choir of the Velykyi Lubin village (1977-1996 and 2000-2004)[not available in the source], conductor of the Dzherela Krynytsia Folk Choir of the village of Solonka in Pustomyty district. Solonka, Pustomyty district (2000-2002), conductor of the Prometheus Folk Men's Choir of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2004-2012), regent of church choirs in the villages of Stavchany, Khyshevychi, Buchaly (1990-2009).

The composer has published 25 books and collections, more than 30 reviews and articles, and is the compiler of collections by E. Vakhniak, L. Pidkivka, and S. Pidkivka. He recorded and transcribed more than 1000 Ukrainian folk songs. He is the author of choral works and songs based on poems by Ukrainian poets (more than 300), and an arranger of church songs for various types of choirs (seven collections of 300 songs).

As a choir conductor and singer, he has conducted more than four thousand concerts, most of them for charity! O. Pidkivka is a permanent conductor of the combined choirs of the VI and VII World Boyko Festivals in Turka, choral festivals dedicated to Fr.
