Oleksandr Petrovskyi (* 12 September (30 August) 1908, Katerynoslav - † 1983) was a Ukrainian conductor and teacher, professor (1972). People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1973).
From his biography
In 1938-44, he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the All-Union Radio Committee Choir.
In 1941, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, class of P. Chesnokov.
In 1944-1946, he worked as the artistic director of the Dumka Chapel.
In 1951, he completed postgraduate studies at the Kyiv Conservatory.
From 1947 to 1983, he was the artistic director and chief conductor of the Honoured Choir of the Ukrainian SSR at the Bolshevik plant in Kyiv. At the same time, in 1947-1957, he was the chief choirmaster and conductor of the opera studio of the Kyiv Conservatory, and in 1952-1954 - of the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Since 1956, he has taught at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute.
He wrote the book "Honoured Choir of the Ukrainian SSR at the Bolshevik Plant" (1956).
He compiled collections, including the Choral Conducting Textbook (1973).
