Pavelko Valentin Grigorievich

1906-1971

Valentyn Pavelko (b. 16 August 1906, Poltava - d. 22 July 1971, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian Soviet military conductor, lieutenant colonel; Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR since 1964.
Biography.
He was born on 16 August 1906 in Poltava. In 1925, he graduated from the Krasnodar Conservatory. He joined the Red Army on 15 September 1927. Participated in the Second World War. Since 1961, he has been in the reserve. He conducted military orchestras. He died in Kyiv on 22 July 1971.

Military awards
He was awarded two Orders of the Red Star (6 November 1947; 21 August 1953), medals "For Victory over Germany" and "For Military Merit" (5 November 1946).
