Petro Oleksandrovych Pashko (born 5 May 1956, Donetsk) is a Ukrainian pianist, composer, arranger, and leader of the Jazz Uncle Band.
Biography.
He received his primary musical education at the Ryla Music School, and his professional education at the Donetsk Music School.
1981 - graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory (piano class of L. A. Weintraub).
He has been performing since 1975: at first, he performed together with pianist Yevhen Pukhlyanko at the New Year's Eve of the Kyiv Interclub. Later, he met the famous jazz critic, journalist, and jazz concert host Andriy Shelomentsev, who organised jazz evenings. In 1970-1980, Pashkov became a frequent guest of such evenings.
1979-1985 - pianist of the Kyiv Variety Theatre Orchestra under the direction of O. Shapoval.
Since 1985, he has been a teacher of piano and improvisation at the Department of Variety and Jazz Performance at the R. M. Gliere Kyiv Music School.
1979-1993 he headed various ensembles with which he participated in the Khibinsky Dawns festivals in Apatity, Murmansk region (1986 - KOD ensemble), Holosiyevo-88 (Kyiv), Kryshtalevyi Lev (Lviv, 1988-1989), Jazz-Rock Jamboree (Budapest, 1991).
He headed the ensemble "Jazz Vuyko Band", with which he performed at the festivals "Jazz Fest" (Sumy, 1994), "Jazz Horizons" (Kryvyi Rih, 1994, 1996). He collaborated with alto saxophonist Konstantin Klyashtorny.
He performed with British saxophonist Bill Skeet (1996).
He toured Hungary (1991) and Greece (1996).
He is the author of numerous jazz compositions, including the Chernobyl Symphony (1996).
