Okhrimenko Igor Stanislavovich

1969

Ihor Stanislavovych Okhrimenko is a Ukrainian choirmaster, conductor, musician and public figure. Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
He was born on 4 September 1969 in Khrystynivka, Cherkasy region.

In 1984-1988, he studied at the Uman Music College, in 1988-1993 he was a student of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, conducting class. After graduation, he worked at the Kyiv Municipal Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet for Children and Youth as a choirmaster of the choir, under the direction of Mykhailo Krechko.

At the same time, he worked as a choirmaster of the Golden Gate Choir of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the direction of Valentyn Maltsev.

He co-founded and worked for a long time as a choirmaster of the Oriana Chamber Choir.

Vera was always present in the musician's life. Since his student days, Igor Stanislavovych studied sacred music and Regency art, and sang in many churches in Kyiv. For more than 10 years he sang in St Volodymyr's Cathedral. This could not but affect his work, because the repertoire of his choirs has always included sacred choral music, which is reflected in his discs.

The choirmaster does not stay away from social activities. An active life position and indifference to public life are, first of all, the result of the artist's personality development. And this is evidenced by his participation in charity events dedicated to important state events, constant cooperation with public organisations, the Ukrainian diaspora abroad, and the Ukrainian community! He is always a welcome guest in educational institutions, cultural centres, at various meetings and gatherings, where he brings people not only music and song, but also his position on culture, music, art in relation to the past, present and future of Ukraine.

Since 2004, he has been the Chief Choirmaster, conductor and arranger of the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Laureate of international choral competitions in Ireland, Norway, Bulgaria, and Latvia. Participant of two Choral Olympiads in Austria and South Korea, where he won honourable mentions. He is an author of choral works and has many choral arrangements in various genres.

In 2017, together with the Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, he took part in the concert "Congratulations to Ukraine" at the Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk.
