Novitsky Mykola Volodymyrovych

1935-2008

Novytskyi Mykola Volodymyrovych (July 16, 1935, Bagovytsia village - June 7, 2008) was a Ukrainian composer, conductor, and teacher.
He was born on July 16, 1935 in the village of Bahovytsia, Kamianets-Podilskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region. He graduated from the Chernivtsi Music College and the Kharkiv Institute of Culture. Since 1958 he lived and worked in Kitsman, Chernivtsi region. He worked as the director of the district House of Culture and a teacher at the children's music school, and since 1963 - as the director of the music school. He died on June 7, 2008.

Creative achievements
Mykola Novytskyi is the author of more than 200 musical compositions: songs for choir, pieces for brass band, instrumental music, works for children, and arrangements of folk songs. Among them, the most famous are the songs "Flowers for the Teacher," "Poppies," and "Red Ties" (lyrics by I. Smyrnova), "Memory" (lyrics by M. Kuyek), "Kubannochka" (lyrics by V. Misevych), "Song about Kitsman" (lyrics by I. Semeniuk), and others. He wrote several popular songs to the lyrics of P. Voronko, M. Ivasyuk, M. Matios, P. Paliy, M. Tkach. He is the author of the collections "Zabroshch" (1994) and "Marches for Brass Band" (1998).

Honors and awards
Member of the All-Ukrainian Music Union.
Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine (2004).
Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR.
Laureate of the Sidor Vorobkevych Literary and Art Prize.
