Naidich Dmitry Yurievich

Naidych Dmytro Yuriiovych (born 1963) is a Ukrainian pianist, improviser, composer, arranger, professor at the Lyon Conservatory.

From his biography
Born in Kyiv to Yurii Naidych, a scientist in the field of materials science, and his mother Nina, a piano teacher for children aged 3 to 18. From an early age, he performed in various concert halls in his city. At the age of 17, at the end of his studies at the Special Music School for Gifted Children in Kyiv, he received a diploma as an improvising pianist.

In 1988-89, he won the Vilnius Jazz Piano Competition and the International Competition in Poland. Then in 1990 he crowned his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kyiv with four first prizes: interpretation, chamber music, professorship and accompaniment, and also trained at the Gnessin Academy in Moscow with Igor Brill for two years. At the same time, he has participated in major jazz festivals in Eastern Europe, Switzerland, and Italy with his personal compositions and composed music for several theatre productions in Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian National Radio recorded some of his compositions for its music library.

In 1991, he moved to France, where he continued his concert activity, and since 1994 he has been teaching at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon. He has won several jazz competitions, including the La Défense Jazz Festival. The Follow jazz collective of Lyon's cultural centres calls him "The Revelation of the 94-95 season", where he played the first parts of concerts by Ahmad Jamal, Louis Sclavis, and others.
