Mykhaylovsky Ivan Dmytrovych

1874-1933

Flute musician, professor.
Biography.

He was born on February 23, 1874 in Odesa. In 1899 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in the class of Professor F. Stepanov. From then until 1917, he was a soloist with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra in St. Petersburg, where he performed leading roles.

He toured Europe with concerts with the famous singer L. Lytkivska.

During the revolution, he led military orchestras, and in 1918 moved to Kyiv, where he played first flute at the opera house and taught at the conservatory (Mykola Lysenko Kyiv Music and Drama Institute), where he was also dean of the orchestra faculty. He was one of the organizers of the famous quartet of professors of the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1918-1933 he was a soloist of the Kyiv Opera Orchestra.

He died on November 6, 1933. He was buried in Kyiv at the Lukianivske Cemetery (plot No. 13-III, row 6, place 3). There is an openwork cross on the grave.
