Muhlert Friedrich Wilhelmowicz

1859-1924

Friedrich Wilhelm von Muhlert (b. June 19, 1859 Jelgava, Latvia - 1924, Kyiv) was a cellist, teacher, musician, public figure, and composer.

He was a doctor by profession. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Jyväskylä (now Tartu) University (1884) and the St. Petersburg Conservatory, cello class of K. Davydov (1886).

From 1886 he lived in Kyiv, participated in the work of the Russian Musical Society branch, taught at its music school (from 1913 - the conservatory), played in a quartet, and was a concertmaster of the symphony orchestra cello group. He performed as a soloist in Kyiv, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Berlin, and the Baltic States. He is the author of 3 cello concertos, plays, etudes, and exercises.
