Minaev Kuzma Opanasovych

1895-1950

Kuzma Opanasovych Minaev (* 2 (14) November 1895, Nova Slobodka, modern Kaluga Oblast - † 26 January 1950, Kyiv) was a Russian and Ukrainian singer of the Soviet era. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1946).
Biography.
In 1925, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatoire, where he studied under V. M. Zarudna.

He improved his skills in 1927-1927 at the opera studio of the Bolshoi Theatre.

In 1927-1929 he was a soloist at the Kharkiv Opera,

in 1929-1931 - the Second Travelling Ukrainian Opera,
in 1931-1933 - at the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theatre,
In 1933-1937, he was a soloist at the Odesa Opera House.
In 1937-1950 he worked at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Among the roles he performed:

Sultan, The Cossack Beyond the Danube by Hulak-Artemovsky,
Nagulnov in Dzerzhinsky's The Raised Virgin Lands,
Ostap, Taras Bulba by Lysenko,
Mykola, "Natalka Poltavka" by Lysenko,
Protsenko - "The Young Guard" by Maitus, and a number of others.
He also conducted concert activities.
