Member of the National League of Ukrainian Composers (1993), the National All-Ukrainian Music Union (1994), the World Association of symphonic, brass, pop music and ensembles (1996). Honored Artist of Ukraine (2011).
Biography
Leonid Oleksandrovich Miller was born on November 25, 1947 in the village of Ispisar, Chkalovsky district, Leninabad region, Tajik SSR.
He graduated from the educational (1964) and music (1966) schools in Barnaul (now the Russian Federation) and the military-conducting faculty of the Moscow Conservatory (1978) and an adjunct at the same university (1988).
In 1978-1983, with a military orchestra, he participated in national holidays and festivals in the Buryat ASSR (now the Russian Federation). In 1986-1988, he participated in the national holidays of Hungary. He orchestrated, arranged and performed ceremonial pieces, Hungarian folk songs, his own translations of Ferenc Liszt's 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody, Hector Berlioz's "Rakochi March" and others.
From 1983 — in the city of Ternopil: the conductor of the military band of the division, at the same time — the leader of the folk pop ensemble "Ekpromt", from 1989 — the chief conductor of the brass band of PC "Oktyabr" (from 1990 — "Berezil") from 1993 — municipal, pop and brass band Volya Orchestra team, since 1999 - artistic director of the National Variety Ensemble, at Berezil PC.
He died on July 3, 2017 in the city of Ternopil. Buried in Dovzhanka, Ternopil district.

In 1986, he was a co-organizer of the regional wind music festival "The People and the Army Are One" (Ternopil).
Leonid Miller is the chief conductor of regional marches of brass bands of the Ternopil region (1990-1999), in 1992 he created the anthem "Wiedergeburt" ("Renaissance") for the international society of Germans, in 2000 he was the founder of the German cultural center under the Ternopil regional organization "Wiedergeburt" , male vocal ensemble "Acapella", children's dance ensemble "De Blume" ("Flower").

The author of more than 500 arrangements and original works of wind, symphonic, chamber and vocal-choral music, including more than 30 marches on Ukrainian themes, overtures, fantasies based on songs by Mykhailo Hayvoronskyi, Anatoly Gorchynskyi, Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Roman Kupchynskyi, Levko Lepky, and others; works of foreign composers.
The author of the collection of scores for the brass band "Trumpets are Calling" (T., 1992), "Choral works, vocal ensembles, lyrical songs, romances, children's songs, instrumental works" (T., 2004).
Arranged and orchestrated for the brass bands of Ukraine "Many summers" by Dmytro Bortnyanskyi, songs of the USSR, UPA, carols by Vasyl Barvinskyi, Mykola Rimsky-Korsakov's overture "Svitle svyato" (for the brass band of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR) and others.
The works of Leonid Miller are published in the collections "Thorn Field Melodies", "Service and Military Repertoire".
In 1966, a studio recording of Leonid Miller's playing on the guitar was made for the soundtrack of "Zhyve such a guy"; in 1990, the march "Our Ternopil" was recorded on a gramophone record for the 450th anniversary of Ternopil.
