Melnyk Timur

1985

Tymur Melnyk (born 9 July 1985) is an Austrian classical violinist and teacher of Ukrainian origin.
Timur Melnik teaches at the Vienna Conservatory of Music and Drama and regularly gives international masterclasses in Europe, Russia and at the JVL Summer School of Music in Canada. He is also a former assistant to Professor Pavel Vernikov at the Conservatoire De Lausanne HEMU Sion in Sion, Switzerland, and occasionally at the Fiesole Music School (known in Italian as Scuola Di Musica Di Fiesole) in Italy.

He currently lives in Vienna, Austria. He was born in Kyiv. He studied with Professor Michael Frischenschlager at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts; with Professor Anna Melnyk at the Costa Manojlovic Music School and at the Horeum Margi School for Musically Gifted Children in Serbia. He received further artistic impulses from Professor Zakhar Bron (Russian and German violinist and music teacher), Professor Pavel Vernikov (Vienna), Professor Evgenia Chugayeva (Moscow) and Maestro Vladimir Spivakov.

Tymur Melnyk was a jury member at the EURITMIA International Music Competition in Italy, SVIREL in Slovenia, the International Forum for Music Performance and Pedagogy in Austria, and the Republican Competition in Serbia. During his student years, he received numerous awards at international violin competitions, including 2nd place and the Audience Award at the Johannes Brahms International Music Competition in Austria, the Main and First Prize at the Osaka International Music Competition in Japan and the European Sting Teachers Association Special Prize at the Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna, Austria. During his studies, he was awarded several prestigious scholarships, including the Herbert von Karajan Scholarship from the Austrian Foundation.

In 2008, Tymur Melnyk was granted Austrian citizenship.
