Matsoyan Sargiy Galustovych (16 October 1931, Gyumri - 7 October 2021, Odesa) - Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at the Odesa Music Academy, Academician of the International Academy of Arts, Honoured Artist of Armenia, Head of the Department of Orchestral Strings and Opera and Symphony Conducting at the A. V. Nezhdanova Odesa National Music Academy. Artistic Director of the Symphony Orchestra, A. V. Nezhdanova Odesa National Music Academy.
He received his general and primary musical education in his native city of Gyumri (formerly Leninakan, Armenia).
1951-1954 - conscript service in the army, 1956-1961, 1966-1968 - student and postgraduate student of the Tchaikovsky Kyiv Conservatory, class of opera and symphony conducting (head - Professor M. Kanerstein).
1961-1967 (by competition) - assistant conductor, regular conductor, acting chief conductor of the Odesa Regional Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, lecturer at the Conservatory.
1968-1990 - Republic of Armenia - Director of the Music School (1968-1972 and 1975-1977), Head of the Department of the Music Faculty of the Pedagogical Institute (1972-1975 and 1977-1990).
1968-1990 - artistic director of the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, later the Symphony Orchestra, and student choirs. Permanent work at the Odesa Conservatory, at the same time he was the director of the municipal symphony orchestra and choir of Gyumri (Armenia, 1991-1993).
In 1982, he defended his dissertation on "Formation of Students' Artistic Taste in the Conditions of Higher Music and Pedagogical Education" (Yerevan, Armenia).
