Petro Matiy (born 28 April 1943, Sasovo, Vynohradiv district) is a Ukrainian singer and composer, People's Artist of Ukraine.
Biography.
Born into a large family. After the eighth grade, he moved to his sister's house in Donbas, where he first worked at a mine and then began studying to become a welder at a vocational school in Kramatorsk. While serving in the army, he sang in an ensemble. After his service, he came to work at the construction of the Vynohradiv Plastic Products Plant. During this period, he got married.
Later, he began to study music, first at the Uzhhorod Music School, then at the Lviv State Conservatory. In 1977, he started working as a singer in the lecture brigade of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. Since January 1998, Matiy has been the leader of the Harmonia Ensemble.
