Marunych Vladimir Ivanovich

1961

Volodymyr Marunych (* 1961) is a Ukrainian accordionist, conductor and teacher.
Born in 1961 in Zaporizhzhia, in 1984 he graduated from the Zaporizhzhia Music College, class of Viktor Dyachenko. In 1989, he graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory, class of Anatolii Semeshko and Viktor Samitov; conducting - Igor Marchenko. In 1996 he graduated from the Opera and Symphony Department, class of Vadym Hnedash and Volodymyr Kozhukhar.

He has been working at the Kyiv Music Academy since 1997 as a senior lecturer, in 2008 as an associate professor, and in 2011 as an acting professor of the Department of Folk Instruments. In 2004-2011, he was a part-time director of the bandura band. At the same time, in 1987-2000, he was a soloist of the instrumental trio under the direction of Ivan Yashkevych, in 1988-2001 - of the Kyivski Vizerunky ensemble of the International Centre of Culture and Arts, in 2002-2011 - of the Dyvohrai ensemble of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.

Since 2013, he has been the musical director and conductor of the H. Maiboroda National Bandura Choir of Ukraine.

He is a laureate of international competitions.

He is the author of a number of arrangements, arrangements and transcriptions for various ensembles and orchestras of folk instruments - about 120 in total.

He has toured Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Sweden, the USA, and the former Yugoslavia.

He has a number of recordings on Ukrainian Radio. Since 2018, he has been an Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

He is married. He has a daughter Yulia and a son Ivan.

Wife - Natalia Marunych, artist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.

Son - Ivan Marunych, leader of the Ukrainian band Karta Svitu.
