Ukrainian composer, teacher, musical and social activist. Member of the Union of Composers of the USSR and the National Union of Composers of Ukraine since 1975. Laureate of the Republican Komsomol Prize named after M. Ostrovsky (1982). Winner of the Republican contest for the best song (1985). Honored Artist of Ukraine (1986).
Biography
He graduated from the Moscow Military Music School (trombone class, 1961—1968), Kharkiv Institute of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky (with honors, professor V.T. Borisov's composition class, 1969—1974).
Responsible secretary (1974—1978), chairman of the board of the Donetsk organization of the NSCU (since 1983), member of the presidium (1984—1989), secretary of the NSCU board (since 1989). Teacher (since 1975), senior teacher (since 1978), associate professor (since 1989), acting professor (since 1993), professor (since 1994) of the Department of Composition and Modern Music Technologies of the Donetsk State Music Academy named after S. S. Prokofiev.
Writings
Mamonov's works are attractive with the brightness of themes, freshness of harmony, and clarity of form. These qualities are especially characteristic of symphonic music, which is characterized by clarity and depth of content, color and sophistication of the sound palette. A significant part of the repertoire consists of chamber-instrumental, chamber-vocal works and songs.
