Pavlo Mykolaiovych Makarenko (4 (17) June 1915, Tulun, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia - 25 November 1995, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian violinist and teacher, professor (1986), Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1985).
Biography
1940 - graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of B. Sibor). He performed as a soloist and as a member of ensembles in cities of Russia and Ukraine, in particular in Kyiv and Lviv.
1947-1957 - a teacher at the Lviv Specialised Music School and Lviv Conservatory, he made a significant contribution to the development of the Lviv school of viola playing.
He was a member of ensembles (trios, quartets) with O. Kryshtalskyi, P. Pshenychka, and V. Stetsenko.
He made arrangements for viola and piano. He played the violin of Andrea Guarneri.
1958-1995 - lecturer at the Tchaikovsky Kyiv Conservatory.
Among his students were Vadym Kozin, Zenon Dashak, Bohdan Kaskiv, Dmytro Kolbin, Bohodar Kotorovych, Serhiy Shott, Anatoliy Venzheha, V. Lantsman, R. Kofman, O. Kramarov, and S. Yusov. Z. Zelinsky, L. Olenych, N. Vyshnevska, R. Gural, J. Lyashenko, V. Panteleev, L. Stovbun, O. Panova, S. Kulakova, A. Brodsky, and Y. Vysotsky.
