Magdiy Mikhail Ilkovich

Mykhailo Ilkovych Mahdiy (February 6, 1906, Nosiv village, now Ternopil district, Ternopil region, Ukraine - November 3, 1983, Ivano-Frankivsk) was a Ukrainian musician, folklorist, and amateur composer. Honored Artist of Ukraine (1956).
Biography.
He graduated from the school of brass band directors in Kielce (Poland).

In the 1920s, he was the director of brass bands in the villages of Velyki Hai and Velyka Berezovytsia, now in Ternopil district, the town of Kozliv (now the village of Koziv district), and played in the orchestra of the Bourgeois Brotherhood (Ternopil).

From 1931 he lived in Stanislaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk), where he worked in the brass bands of the Albertine brothers and the Zorya Society; in 1939-1941 he was a methodologist at the regional house of creativity, and in 1941-1944 he was a teacher at a music school.

He was one of the founders of the State Hutsul Song and Dance Ensemble, the head of the orchestra group (1944-1960).

Creativity.
Author of the vocal and choreographic suites "Over Cheremosh", "Oleksa Dovbush", "Sending off to the meadow", music to the songs "My Hutsulochka", "Kiptarik", "Play, Sopilka", numerous arrangements of folk songs, including "Let's Fly", "Verbova Doschechka", etc.
