Lyushnya Mykhailo Petrovych

1942

Podillia composer, conductor, head of the Khmelnytskyi regional organization of the All-Ukrainian Music Union, head of the Association of Podillia Composers, artistic director of the Retro Music and Song Ensemble, honorary member of the Khmelnytskyi Literary Union Podillia.

Biography.

Mykhailo Liushnya was born on November 5, 1942 in the village of Vovkovyntsi, Derazhnyanskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region. He showed his love for music since childhood. Starting in the 4th grade, he taught himself to play the accordion and later the accordion.

In 1961, he graduated from the Kamianets-Podilskyi Cultural and Educational School (now the Kamianets-Podilskyi College of Culture and Arts) (choral department).

In 1975 he graduated from Khmelnytskyi Music School named after V. Zaremba (now Khmelnytskyi Music College named after Vladyslav Zaremba) (Theory Department).

In 1984 he graduated from the Rivne Pedagogical Institute (now Rivne State University of the Humanities) (Faculty of Music and Pedagogy).

He worked as a music teacher in Vovkovynets boarding school, and since 1967 - in Khmelnytskyi boarding school.

In parallel with his musical and pedagogical activities in the 60s and 80s, he directed amateur groups - brass bands, vocal and instrumental ensembles, pop groups, and choirs.

Since 1975, he worked as the deputy head of the regional branch of the National All-Ukrainian Music Union and the head of the Association of Songwriters of Khmelnytskyi, the author and host of music programs on the regional radio.
Creative work

Mykhailo Petrovych has composed more than a hundred original songs for vocal and choral groups and soloists. Among his famous songs:

"This is My Ukraine", "Podil Autumn", "Maestro, Encore!", "Officers of Ukraine", "The First Teacher", "Violinist", "Linden Blossom", "Victory Day", "To Mama", "Son-Ashen", "Khmelnytchanka", "Dniester Waltz", "Shaman Autumn", "Red Viburnum", "Land of Khmelnytskyi", "Vovkovynets", etc.

M. Liushnya founded the regional festival of veteran choirs, which is held annually on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day; the festival of instrumental music "Play the Bayan" in his small homeland, Vovkovyntsi; and the regional song contest about the village "Breath of the Native Land".

He lectured and gave practical lessons at seminars for cultural and artistic workers. He actively worked on creating new programs for his native band "Retro", which successfully toured not only in Ukraine but also abroad - in France, Belarus, and Greece.
Awards.

Mykhailo Liushnya has been repeatedly awarded diplomas and certificates from the city and regional councils, the city and regional departments of culture, and the National All-Ukrainian Music Union.

1997 - Laureate of the V. Zaremba Regional Prize.

2014 - "Retro" became a laureate of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi City Prize.
