Denys Lytvynenko (Ukraine, Lviv) is a cellist, composer, concertmaster of the Lviv National Philharmonic cello group, and member of the Phoenix Quartet.
He graduated from the Lviv Specialised Music Boarding School named after S. Krushelnytska (1992-2003) in the class of Yevhen Spitzer and Nadiya Kvyk. He continued his studies at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Music Academy (2003-2008) in the class of Yuriy Laniuk. During his studies, he performed a lot, repeatedly became a laureate of competitions (All-Ukrainian Competition of Cellists and Violists (Lviv, Ukraine) - I prize, All-Ukrainian Competition of Chamber Ensembles and Quartets (Lviv, Ukraine) - II prize), and participated in international master classes (Tomasz Strahl) and festivals.
While studying at the conservatory, he began working at the Lviv National Philharmonic, and later took the position of concertmaster of the cello group in the K&K Philharmoniker Orchestra (Ukraine). He has toured with orchestras in such countries as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, and others. Since 2014, he has been the concertmaster of the cello group of the Lviv National Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra.
He has collaborated with such conductors as Ilya Stupel, Georg Kugi, Theodore Kucher, Fedir Glushchenko, Misha Katz, Volodymyr Sirenko, Shungo Moriyama and many others.
He is an active performer as a member of the Phoenix Quartet. The quartet takes part in concerts and festivals in Germany, Japan, Italy, Poland, and the USA and is engaged in the revival of Ukrainian quartet music.
In collaboration with KLK New Music, he has recorded about 100 contemporary chamber and solo works. He has recorded for Naxos and Aldebaran Editions.
