Lysenko Vitaliy Romanovych

1941-1999

Ukrainian choral conductor, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, professor at the Kyiv Conservatory, honorary citizen of Vyshhorod, People's Artist of Ukraine. Great-grandson of composer Mykola Lysenko, father of conductor and artistic director of the State Variety and Symphony Orchestra Mykola Lysenko Jr.

Biography.

He married Olha Vsevolodivna, and the couple had a son Mykola.

Since 1967, Vitalii Lysenko has been a permanent consultant and honorary director of many amateur groups in the Ukrainian SSR and Ukraine.

In the 1980s, he worked as a choirmaster at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theater, and also directed amateur choirs.

In 1982, he became an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.

In 1988, a choir was created at the Karat plant in Kyiv, in 1990 - a "folk amateur choir", in 1994 - a professional municipal song and dance ensemble "Vyshhorod", founded by Vitalii Lysenko and engineer, choral enthusiast Oleh Mazepa.

Since 1991, he has been a professor at the Kyiv Conservatory.

In 1997, he was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Vyshhorod.

In 1998, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

On January 4, 1999, he went missing. According to the police, he threw himself off a bridge. His son, Mykola, noted that his father left home with two old violins and suggested that they were the reason why he was abducted.
