Luzhetskyi Viktor Petrovich

1926-2015

Viktor Petrovych Luzhetskyi (7 August 1926, Mykolaiv - 5 June 2015, Lviv) was a singer (bass), teacher, painter. Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1975). Participant of the Second World War.

He graduated from the Lviv Conservatory (1962; class of P. Karmaliuk). Since then, he was a soloist of the Ivan Franko Lviv Opera and Ballet Theatre (until 1990). In 1968-2012, he was a senior lecturer of solo singing at the Lviv Music Academy. He made fund recordings of B. Liatoshynskyi's operas The Golden Hoop, S. Liudkevych's Dovbush, and J. Maitus's Richard Sorge. The film "Creative Portrait of V. Luzhetskyi" was created about Luzhetskyi.

Among his students were V. Dudar, S. Mahera, V. Pashchenko, and O. Chepurnyi. He is the author of portraits of P. Karmaliuk, V. Ihnatenko in the roles of Cavaradossi ("Tosca" by Puccini) and Herman ("The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky), R. Vitoshynskyi, V. Chaika, still lifes, landscapes. Personal exhibitions - in Lviv (1978, 1998, 2011).

He was buried on the 68th field of the Lychakiv Cemetery.
