Lekger Dmitriy Nikolaevich

Dmytro Mykolaiovych Lekher (born 25 December 1896 (6 January 1897), Krasnoufimsk - died 11 May 1980, Lviv) was a Ukrainian violinist and music teacher, professor at the Lviv Conservatory. One of the luminaries of the Lviv violin school.
Biography.
Dmytro Mykolaiovych Lekher was born on 25 December 1896 (6 January 1897) in the city of Krasnoufimsk (Russia). He was German by birth, although his passport declared him a Russian.

After his father's death, his family moved to Poltava, where Dmitry studied at both real and music schools. His violin teacher was the famous teacher Yakov Hegner, a student of the famous Leopold Auer. Later, the family moved to Moscow, where Dmytro took violin lessons from Professor Mikhail Pres, a student of the famous teacher Ivan Grzhimali.

In 1913, due to Dmytro's lung disease, the family moved to the south, and the young violinist successfully passed the entrance exams to the Odesa Conservatory (course of the Czech violinist Professor Frantisek Stupka). During his studies, he performed as a soloist and played in the symphony orchestra.

In 1917, after graduating from the Odesa Conservatory, he became a soloist and concertmaster of the Yalta Symphony Orchestra.

In 1918, he works in Batumi. In 1920, he moved to Vladikavkaz, where he taught at the so-called "People's Conservatory", while also teaching at the Kutaisi Music School, giving concerts and touring.

1927-1944 - works at the Yerevan Conservatory. He was awarded the title of professor in 1934.

1948-1973 - taught at the Lviv Conservatory: Head of the Department of Strings, Winds and Folk Instruments.

He taught a special violin class. He developed methods of teaching the violin.

He was awarded the medal "For Labour Valour" and others.

He passed away on 11 May 1980 in Lviv. He was buried at the Yaniv Cemetery.
