Lagosha Alexander

Lahosha Oleksandr (24. 08. 1968, Kramatorsk, Donetsk region) - violist, teacher. Laureate of the International Competition of Chamber Ensemble Performance named after P. Lantier (Paris, 1998), scholarship named after O. Olzhych, Ukrainian Fund at the British Embassy (1997).

Graduated from the Kyiv Conservatory. Kyiv Conservatoire (1994, class of D. Havrylets), assistantship-training at it (1998, head - the same), where since 1994 he has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Stringed and Bowed Instruments (now the National Music Academy of Ukraine). At the same time, since 1991 - art. National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine; 1994-97 - a member of the quartet of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine; since 1998 - soloist and concertmaster of the viola group of the National Chamber Ensemble "Kyiv Soloists". He actively performs concerts as a soloist and as a member of the chamber ensemble, in particular with L. Hryshko (piano).

He has an extensive repertoire of works of various historical periods and styles: for solo viola and orchestra, parts in works for viola and piano, string duet, trio, etc., including B. Liatoshynsky, V. Kireiko, Zh. and L. Kolodubs, M. Skoryk, E. Stankovych, H. Lyashenko, H. Havrylets, V. Runchak, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninoff, A. Arensky, S. Prokofiev, D. Shostakovich, A. Schnittke, J.-S. S. Bach, G.-F. Handel, B. Marcello, P. Nardini, M. Reger, G.-F. Telemann, J. Haydn, W.-A. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. Schubert, R. Schumann, F. Liszt, F. Mendelssohn, C. Saint-Saëns, N. Paganini, J. Brahms, C. Debussy, M. Ravel, S. Franck, P. Hindemith, B. Bartók, A. Onegger, O. Benningoff, T. Bucholz, D. Milhaud, G. Fauré, W. Stockmeyer, A. Piazzolla.

Organiser and participant (together with L. Hryshko) of the cycle of 5 concerts "Anthology of Chamber Sonatas for Viola and Piano" (Dnipro, 2005). Participant of the project "Musical Evenings of St. Andrew's Church"; many international festivals - "Bach Fest" (Sumy), "December Evenings" (Dnipro), "Kyiv Music Fest", "Musical Premieres of the Season", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian nation. 200th anniversary of the birth of M. Glinka, in memory of B. Hmyrya (all - Kyiv), S. Richter (Zhytomyr), Kolodub Fest (Chernihiv, Kyiv), Music of Ukrainian Composers (Krakow), M. Paverman (Yekaterinburg, Russia), Silesian composers (Opole, Gliwice; both - Poland), contemporary music (Halle, Germany), chamber music (Jerusalem), "Amaggio di violino" (Rome), etc.

Tours in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Israel, etc. He has a collection of recordings on the National Radio. Author of a number of musical works, including Sonata for viola and piano. Member of the jury of the international competition "Art of the XXI century".

Among his students are laureates of international competitions who work in orchestras and ensembles in Ukraine and abroad - A. Vilkhov, I. Hrytsyshyn, D. Dorosh, V. Dolynska, D. Polianska, Y. Shvydko.

He was the first performer of a number of works written especially for him by composers V. Kyreiko, N. Rozhko, M. Kovalinas, J. Kolodub, O. Kostin; by German authors O. Benningof, W. Stockmeyer, T. Bucholz. The work "Sasha Lagosha" by M. Kovalinas (2001)
