Kuntyi Oleg

1985

Oleh Kuntyi (born 18 March 1985) is a Ukrainian conductor, arranger, winner of national and international competitions, founder of ensembles, conductor of the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine.
Oleh Kuntyi was born on 18 March 1985 in Rivne. In 2004 he graduated with honours from the Lviv State Music College named after S.P. During his studies, he became a laureate of all-Ukrainian competitions and was awarded a scholarship named after V. Chornovil for his studies. In 2009, he graduated from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy (class of accordion - D. Kuzhelev, class of conducting - I. Churashko). During his studies at the Music Academy, he became a laureate of national and international competitions.

The years of study were marked by his first creative and organisational achievements. He created and headed the ensembles "Pro-et-contra" (2008) and "Gerdan" (2010), which featured works of various genres arranged by Oleh Kuntyi.

Viktor Hutsal, composer, professor, conductor, People's Artist of Ukraine, winner of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize, played an important role in the formation of both the artist and the conductor.

Since 2013, he has been conducting the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine.

The conductor has collaborated with Oleh Skrypka (leader of the Vopli Vidoplyasova band), Viktor Broniuk (leader of the Tik band), Ukrainian rock bands Druha Rika and Numer 482, People's Artist of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko State Prize winner Nina Matviyenko. Nina Matvienko, People's Artists of Ukraine Igor Borko and Olga Chubareva, People's Artist of Ukraine Viktor Pavlik, singers Khrystyna Soloviy and Pavlo Tabakov, violin virtuoso Oleksandr Bozhyk, cymbalist Petro Skazkiv, flute virtuoso Oles Zhuravchak, and Ukrainian composer and performer Ivan Taranenko.

He is a six-time winner of the Battle of the Bands show, conductor of the Lords of the Elements fantasy music show and the Guts and Roll music project.

Laureate of the All-Ukrainian competition of accordionists "Provesin". Kirovograd (Kropyvnytskyi) 2003.

Winner of the First Prize of the International Competition of Accordionists "Perpetuum mobile", Drohobych, Ukraine. Drohobych 2009.

Member of the jury of the II Open Competition of Conductors of Folk Instrument Orchestras among students of higher education institutions of I-II accreditation levels (2018)
