Yurii Dmytrovych Krykh (23 March 1907, Rohuzke village, Tomaszów district, Lublin province, Russian Empire, now Poland - 22 February 1991, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukrainian SSR, USSR) was a Ukrainian violinist, orchestra conductor, teacher, professor. Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 1st convocation (since 1940).
In 1914 - 1922, he studied in the city of Hadiach, Poltava province, where his family moved. In 1922, he moved to Lviv.
From 1922 he studied at the branch of the Mykola Lysenko Higher Music Institute in Przemysl. In 1928, he graduated from the violin and conducting classes at the Lviv Conservatory and worked as an assistant there.
From 1930 he was a teacher of violin and theoretical disciplines at music schools in Ternopil.
In 1933 - 1934, he improved his musical skills with Jacques Thibaud in Paris (France), participated in the International Violin Competition.
After returning to Ternopil, he continued to teach music at schools and the Native School Gymnasium, collaborated in the Boyana Music Society, and conducted the orchestra of the Ternopil Ukrainian Gymnasium. He gave concerts accompanied by his wife in Ternopil, Chortkiv, Lviv, and other cities of Galicia.
In October 1939, he became a member of the People's Assembly of Western Ukraine. In 1939-1941, he was the director of the Ternopil Music School for Children, an evening general education school for adults, and the conductor of the orchestra of the Ivan Franko Ternopil Drama Theatre.
On 26 July 1941, he was arrested by the German Gestapo, but was soon released. In 1941-1944, he lived in Lviv and worked at the Lviv Music School. In 1943-1944, he gave concerts in Austria, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
From June 1944, he was the deputy head of the Lviv Regional Department of Arts. In 1944 - 1950 - Deputy Director, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Educational Work of the Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Conservatory.
In 1950 - 1958 - Professor of the Kyiv Conservatory. From 1958 to 1960 - Head of the Department of Music at the Berdychiv Pedagogical Institute.
From 1960 to 1990 - Professor, Head of the Department of Music at Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute.
Co-author of the manual "School of Violin Playing" (K. 1968, Krykh Y., Luzhnyi V.), author of 30 scientific articles.
