Kryachok Vasily Mikhailovich

1954

Born in Cherkasy region. Trombonist, conductor, teacher. Associate Professor (2002), Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2013). He received his musical education at the Uman State Music College and Astrakhan State Conservatory at the Orchestra Faculty, where he majored in trombone. After graduating from the conservatory, in 1979-82, he worked as a teacher at the Zhdanovsk Music College (now Mariupol, Donetsk region).

In 1982, together with his wife, violinist Larysa Halyna, he was enlisted under contract in a group of Soviet troops in Germany, in a military orchestra, where he worked in various musical positions, including conductor, until 1988.

After returning to Mariupol, he taught at the Children's Music School No. 1, and later returned to the Mariupol State Music College. On 17 April 1989, he founded the Renaissance Ensemble of Early Music, which included 15 young teachers. In 1994, the orchestra was granted the status of a municipal professional creative team by the Mariupol City Council, became a budgetary institution and was included in the register of cultural institutions of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. V.M. Kryachok was appointed artistic director and conductor. At the same time, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Musicology at the Priazovsky Technical University (Mariupol).

In 2018, the Mariupol Chamber Philharmonic was founded, and Vasyl Kriachok was appointed its director. Also in the same year, the first Mariupol Classics festival of classical music was launched, with the Renaissance Chamber Orchestra led by Vasyl Kriachok among its leading participants.
