Serhiy Vyacheslavovych Krutsenko (December 26, 1967 - January 8, 2023) was a Ukrainian composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, director, poet and thinker, and specialist in acoustic and visual technologies.
He was born in Kyiv into a family of musicians. His father is Vyacheslav Novikov, his mother is a teacher at the Music Academy, and his grandparents are soloists of the National Honored Academic Chapel of Ukraine "Dumka". He graduated from a specialized music school and studied at the Kyiv Conservatory (class of Professor Oleksandr Panov).

In the early 1990s, he began working in music production, collaborating with dozens of Ukrainian and foreign classical, pop and rock stars. He created the first recording studio in Ukraine that records acoustic compositions for film and audiophile releases in DSD and PCM 384KHz sound formats, in all modern Surround sound formats.

As a sound producer, he led the creation of the first ever Crimean Tatar symphonic and ethnic album performed by Eurovision winner Jamala. The work combined Crimean Tatar ethnicity with a symphony orchestra and modern synthesizer language. The orchestra was recorded under the direction of conductor Kyrylo Karabyts. Together with the composer Inna Pushkar, he produced the Ukrainian musical group Domino.

As a composer, Serhiy has created music for more than 30 feature films, including Khaytarma, Mykyta Kozhumiaka, and Her Prayer. He was the artistic director and director of the all-Ukrainian project "Watch Ukrainian" - a project to rent micrometer-sized socially important films in the pre-show space in all cinemas of Ukraine.

Director of the film-opera When the Fern Blooms (Lviv National Opera, 2019-2020). Director and co-author of the feature film and international humanistic project The Address on the Wall (2022) - he also acted as a producer, director, and sound producer for recording and filming.

He has worked extensively as a recording producer for large symphony orchestras for film soundtracks and major concert, theater and show productions. Among them: "The Anthem of Ukraine" performed by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine under the baton of Oksana Lyniv; the first ever recording in 5. 1 Surraund format for the united big band of Europe under the auspices of the EBU (European Broadcast Union); The Great Gatsby - an American-Ukrainian ballet by Denys Matvienko; Passion for Taras - a large concert oratorio by Yevhen Stankovych based on the poems of Taras Shevchenko; a symphonic version of the Eurovision Song Contest winner's song "1944" by Jamala; feature films "Cold Blood" (Last Step) with Jean Reno, "The Rising Hawk" with Robert Patrick, "The Columbus Trail" with Gerard Depardieu, "Ivan Syla", "Khaytarma", "Mertopole", "Unbreakable", "Mykyta Kozhumyaka" and others. Together with Vitaliy Malakhov, they worked on a project about St. Andrew's Descent, transferred the Kyiv Theater on Podil's performance "Vernissage on St. Andrew's" to the film format (the film version of the performance was called "Vernissage. Kyiv").

From 2004 to 2006, he was an advisor to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine on film and music policy. He took an active part in the development of the necessary documents for Ukraine's accession to Eurimages, the European standard for film co-production. Since 1991, he has been actively involved in the development and implementation of copyright laws in Ukraine.

He died on January 8, 2023 in Kyiv, as reported by singer Jamala: "Serhiy Krutsenko did not die at the front, but I am writing down his death to our enemy, because they take not only our lives, but also destroy our psychological and physical health. When they organize terror, they kill us morally. And it is difficult for those who are sensitive and vulnerable."
