Krushelnytskyi Leontiy

1905-1982

Leontiy Krushelnytskyi (born 27 October 1905, Stara Yahilnytsia village, now Chortkiv district, Ternopil region - 22 October 1982, New York, USA) was a Ukrainian choral conductor. Husband of L. Krushelnytska.

Biography.
Graduated from the Ukrainian gymnasium in Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk, 1924), Lviv University (Master of Laws degree). He practised law. He sang in the choir under the direction of D. Kotko and "Surma". In 1937-1938, he conducted the Dumka Choir (all of whom were Stanislav). Later he directed choirs in the Kholm region.

1944 - emigrated to Austria, where he organised the Muse Men's Choir (gave 120 concerts), and later a mixed choir.

1949 - left for New York, where he organised and conducted (1949-1950, 1955-1960) the men's choir Dumka (later mixed; 1950-1952 - its head), as well as the children's choir Moloda Dumka (1952-1955). With the choirs, he popularised Ukrainian music in the largest halls of New York and major cities of the United States and Canada.
