Krushelnytskyi Antin

1866-1895

Antin Amvrosiyovych Krushelnytskyi of the Sas coat of arms[1] (1866, Kozova, now Ternopil district, Ternopil region, Ukraine - 1895, Lviv) was a Ukrainian singer (bass), conductor, and collector of folklore. Brother of the singers Solomiya and Hanna, folklorist Emilia Krushelnytsky.

Biography.

Born in 1866 in Koziv, now Ternopil district, Ternopil region, Ukraine. The son of Fr Ambrosii Krushelnytskyi.

He studied at gymnasiums in Ternopil and Lviv. He learnt the basics of music and piano from his father and Fr Ostap Nyzhankivskyi. He participated in artistic and concert tours of students in Galicia and Bukovyna, led by O. Nyzhankivskyi (1885, 1889).

In 1885-1886, he was a member of the editorial board of the "Musical Library" publishing house in Lviv (with Ostap Nyzhankivskyi, Yosyp Partytskyi, Kyrylo Studynskyi). He was a singer of the Lviv choir "Boyan" (1891-1893), its conductor (1892-1893).

He published 4 folk songs and 5 kolomyikas with melodies in the 1st-4th notebooks of the collection "Russo-Folk Galician Melodies" by Porfirij Bazhansky (1905-1912).

He died at the age of 29 in 1895 in Lviv.
