Krokhmal Kirill Sergeyevich

1875-1918

Krokhmal Kyrylo Serhiiovych (1875-1918) was a tenor bandura player; lieutenant colonel of the 3rd Poltava Regiment of the Kuban Cossack Army.

He was born in the village of Starodzhereliyivska in the Kuban. He graduated from the Oleksandriya Real and Military Cavalry Schools and the Katerynodar Conservatory. Participated in the First World War. He was repeatedly awarded. During the National Revolution, he was the commandant of Starodzhereliyivska village.

A representative of the ancient Zaporizhzhia-Kuban school. He played the diatonic bandura of the village master. His repertoire included dumas, historical, Cossack and Kuban songs. He never parted with his bandura, promoting kobza art everywhere: in military units, educational institutions, cities and villages. He belonged to the educated, nationally conscious Ukrainian intelligentsia of the Kuban.

He was murdered by the Bolsheviks.
