About Valery Kozupytsa

In the midst of the noisy crowd of Ukrainian pop music, the voice of the Sumy composer and performer Valery Kozupytsa is pleasantly distinct - in it you can feel what the people call "soul". Valery Kozupytsa's soul is an ancient Sumy gazebo, linden trees towering over his destiny, Sumy charms of a man who came to his native milestones with a guitar under his arm, with a romantic character in everything - from the clumsy walk on the stage of the National Palace "Ukraine" during the finale of the Ukrainian "Song of the Year" - the "Song Vernissage" festival (and he is a multiple laureate of it), to a bright original self-expression in a song context: Kozupytsa's intonation is always individual and exclusive, it has its own unique charm, warmth and sincerity, original melody and identical simplicity . We don't need to get used to his intonations in the song - they have been with us for a long time, prescribed since childhood. By the way, it is no coincidence that one of his best songs is "And we still have to grow" - in our time of spiritual wanderings, the optimism of the composer (and the poet, of course) is impressive - the purity of thoughts, dreams, hopes, discoveries - everything is in this work, which should become a model for neophytes of the new age. In my opinion, this song should be played on the air as a New Age call sign every morning, and then throughout the air time. This is just a small but significant example - V. Kozupytsa's work prompts a constant dynamic of feelings, ups and downs, inspiration - be it "Native Village" or "Favorite Jazz", "Musicians at a Wedding" or simple "Sumchanka".

Congratulations to the poet of the song, an indomitable dreamer and an eternally young lover - Valery Kozupytsa's songs are often benchmarks, but the main thing in them is a vulnerable melody, simplicity of form and expression, refinement of style and taste, a fragrant Ukrainian phenomenon of kindness and love. Good luck to you, maestro, on the fallows and crossroads of centuries; to remain himself, in love with his native Sumy region, with the uniqueness and tenderness of the harsh land. New songs and charms for you!
