Kovalenko Yevgeny Vladimirovich

Kovalenko Yevhen Volodymyrovych is a Ukrainian musician and composer, artistic director of the Kobza vocal and instrumental ensemble, People's Artist of Ukraine (1997), Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1982), pianist, concertmaster, arranger, poet, soloist and vocalist.

Biography.
He was born on 14 April 1948 in Zhytomyr in the family of musicians. He graduated from the Zhytomyr Music College named after V. Kosenko in 1967, piano department (with honours) and the Rostov State Conservatory named after S. Rachmaninoff (Russia), piano department, class of Professor V. Topilin and Professor M. Sayamov in 1973.

His professional career began in 1967 as a piano teacher at a rural music school; 1969-71 - a musician of the passenger service ensemble of the Black Sea Shipping Company (foreign cruises). 1973-75 - concertmaster of the Kyiv State Music Hall Ukrconcert. From 1975 to the present - artistic director of the All-Ukrainian All-Star Kobza Vocal and Dance Company. Since 2004 - Professor of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.

The first performer of the songs "My Land" by M. Mozgovyi, "To Love Time" by O. Semenov to the poems by O. Vrataryov, "A Cossack Walks - a Tavern Wears" by M. Lytvyn to poems by S. Pushyk, "You are my wing" by V. Ivasyuk, and others.
