Volodymyr Vasylovych Kotsuba (24 July 1924 - 27 May 2013) was a musician and music teacher, winner of the M. Arkas Prize, honorary citizen of Pervomaisk.
Biography
He was born on 24 July 1924 in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region. After graduating from school, he studied at the Odesa Specialised Music School named after Professor P. Stolyarsky.
In 1941, he graduated from the Odesa Music College.
In 1948, he was sent to Pervomaisk Pedagogical College as a teacher of the Music Faculty.
Since 1956, he has been a violin teacher at Pervomaisk Music School No. 1. For 40 years, he headed the department of stringed instruments. He founded and led the first ensemble of young violinists in Ukraine, which repeatedly became a laureate of regional and republican festivals and reviews of children's creativity.
During his time at the music school, he trained more than 300 students who now perform at the Kyiv Philharmonic, the symphony orchestra of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the State TV and Radio Company of Ukraine, and abroad. His students won prestigious international competitions in Spain, the Czech Republic, and Portugal.
He died on 27 May 2013.
Awards and honorary titles
For many years of fruitful work, he was awarded a number of medals of the USSR, the badge "Excellence in Public Education of Ukraine", and a diploma of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
In 2000, he was awarded the M. Arkas Regional Prize in the nomination "Professional Excellence" for his high professional skills.
For the education of a whole galaxy of students who work in many cultural and educational institutions in Ukraine and abroad, V. Kotsuba was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Pervomaisk".
