Kobylkin Ivan Tikhonovich

1926-2017

He was born on September 18, 1926, in the village of Zhilino in the Rossoshansk district of the Voronezh region. In 1932, the family moved to the village of Pshenychne, where his father began working as a teacher. In the 6th grade, Ivan leads the school's folk instruments orchestra.

In 1941, he graduates from seven classes and dreams of entering the Taganrog Music College, but the Second World War prevented him from doing so. In 1943, he became a defender of the Fatherland. In the summer of 1950, Sergeant Kobylkin was demobilized from the army and entered the second year of the accordion department of the Luhansk Music College. During his studies, he worked in two places - at a craft school and at a battery factory as an accompanist for musical groups.

In 1954, he graduated with honors from two departments of the music school: bayan and conducting and choral.

In 1954, he became a resident of Starobilsk and organized a local music school. On September 20, the school was opened and 50 students were enrolled in the piano, accordion, violin, and domra classes.

In 1965, he graduated from the conducting and choral faculty of the Kharkiv Conservatory.

Until 1991, he worked as the director of the Starobilsk Music School. From 1991 to 2008, he became the director of the Chmyriv Music School.

Member of the Association of Composers of the National All-Ukrainian Music Union. Ivan Kobylkin was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, many medals, and the sign of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR "For Excellent Work". He was an Honorary Citizen of Starobilsk.

He died in Starobilsk on January 13, 2017.

Songwriting.
The first song "Our Town" with lyrics by I. Svitlychnyi and "Festival" were performed at the regional youth festival in 1957.

He is the author of more than 200 songs, 20 of which were awarded regional and republican prizes, the author of 60 instrumental pieces and two hundred arrangements of Ukrainian and Russian songs for accordion or accordion.

He has published six collections of songs, and has been published in collective collections and periodicals.

He is the author of romances based on the lyrics of Ivan Savych, Ivan Svitlychnyi, and N. Lukin, music for the plays The Terrible Don, The Death of the Squadron, and the musical comedy Son of the Earth based on the libretto by M. Umanets.

Ivan Kobylkin, together with Ivan Svitlychnyi, is the author of the anthem of the city of Starobilsk.
