Klin Viktor Lvovich

1936-2006

Klyn Viktor Lvovych (November 5, 1936 - March 13, 2006) was a Ukrainian musicologist and composer, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1990).

He was born in Dnipropetrovs'k. In 1960, he graduated from the Saratov Conservatory as a pianist, and in 1962-1964 he studied at the Kyiv Conservatory. In 1960-1962 he was a teacher and soloist at the Sochi Philharmonic. In 1964-1965 he was the head of the music department of the Kyiv Choreographic School.

In 1965-1966 he was a lecturer at the Department of Music at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute. Since 1966, he was a junior researcher, and since 1973 - a senior researcher at the Department of Musicology at the Institute of Art History, Folklore and Ethnography of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1979-2002 he taught at the Kyiv University of Culture (since 1983 - Professor). Since 2003, he has been the Head of the Department of Music at the Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav.

He is the author of a number of musicological works on Ukrainian Soviet music, as well as a number of musical compositions, among which Ukrainian folk and communist themes occupy a prominent place.
