Kilberg Ivan Yosypovych

1918-1982

Ivan Yosypovych Kilberg (b. 26 November 1918, Mariupol - d. 30 October 1982, Odesa) was a Ukrainian Soviet conductor; Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR since 1972.

Biography.
He was born on 26 November 1918 in the city of Mariupol (now Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine). In 1953 he graduated from the Lviv Conservatory (class of Fanelia Dolgova). From 1946 he was a conductor of the Lviv Operetta, which was transferred to Odesa in 1954 (later the Musical Comedy Theatre), and in 1954-1982 he was its chief conductor.

He died in Odesa on 30 October 1982. He was buried in Odesa at the Second Christian Cemetery.

He conducted performances:

"Wedding in Malynivka" by Oleksiy Ryabov;
"The Free Wind by Isak Dunayevsky;
"Silva by Imre Kalman;
"The Beautiful Helen by Jacques Offenbach;
"Spring Thunderstorms by Anatoly Kos-Anatolsky (1960, 1st performance).
