Kikta Valery Hryhorovych

1941

Ukrainian composer.

Biography.

Graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (1965).

Author of music for the Ukrainian television films "Sespel" (1970), "In the Woods Near Kovel" (1984, 3 a).

Based on the project of V. Kolesnyk, he wrote the oratorio "Holy Dnipro" (1992, with lyrics by S. Maidanska), which was performed in Canada (Edmonton, 1993; Toronto, 1996[1]) and Ukraine (Kyiv, 2001).

Today Valeriy Kikta lives in Russia. He is an Honored Artist of Russia, winner of the Moscow City Hall Prize, and a professor at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory.

He takes an active part in the life of the harp community, is the chairman of the board of the Russian Harp Society and a member of the jury at many harp competitions.
