Khmurych Theodore M.

1931-2014

Teodor Myronovych Khmurych (20 June 1931, Beneva village, now Ternopil district, Ternopil region - 22 January 2014) was a Ukrainian musician, choral conductor, amateur artist. Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine (1967).
He inherited a passion for singing and drawing from his father, and since childhood he dreamed of becoming an actor. He organised a choir in his native village.

Since 1963, he lived in Zalishchyky. He worked as an artistic director of the district house of culture, director of the children's music school (1973-1993), head of the district department of culture, led the men's choir "Homin", a men's vocal quartet, a women's Tyrolean orchestra and the instrumental ensemble "Melodiya".

For many years, he has been the director of the Dobrovlyany folk amateur choir (for over 40 years, 11 songs performed by the choir were recorded on a Melodiya record).
