Oleksandra Khmara was born in Kyiv in 2005. She started studying music at the age of six at Kyiv Music School No. 24, in the class of Marina Reznik. Sasha wanted to play only the piano, but after her first lesson with her first teacher, she forgot about it. And the violin became her main hobby.
Since 2015, Oleksandra has been studying at the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv Secondary Specialised Music School in the class of Bohdana Pivnenko. In 2019, she entered the Ecole Supérieure de Musique de Lausanne (Switzerland), class of Svitlana Makarova.
The violinist is a winner of many international competitions, including the International Juliusz Zarębski Music Competition (Warsaw, 2017) - First Prize, International Arthur Grumiaux Competition for Young Violinists (Brussels, 2018) - Third Prize, Odesa International Violin Competition (Odesa, 2018) - Second Prize, Concorso Musicale Città di Villafranca - Grand Prix (Villafranca di Verona, Italy, 2019).
Despite her young age, Oleksandra lives a busy concert life. She has had dozens of performances as a soloist with an orchestra, collaborating with the orchestras of the Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytsky Philharmonic, the Kyiv Soloists, Kyiv Camerata, the Ukrainian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Ukrainian Pop Symphony Orchestra, the Student Chamber Orchestra of the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, and the Camerata of Kazakhstan.
The musician gives many concerts both in Ukraine and abroad. She has performed in the halls of Warsaw, Zakopane, Krakow, Amsterdam, Brussels, San Vito, St. Cloux, Almaty, Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Bülach, Zurich, Lausanne, Sion, Paris and Montpellier.
Alexandra pays much attention to chamber music. In a duet with the young pianist Danna Baltrushaitite, she regularly performs in Kyiv, and the duo also had a series of concerts in Israel (2019). As part of this duo, the musician won first prize at the International Juliusz Zarębski Music Competition in Warsaw (2017). Since 2018, Oleksandra has been participating in various chamber music ensembles of the Higher School of Music in Lausanne.
The musician strives to constantly improve her violin skills - she took an active part in masterclasses by O. Belov, V. Kuznetsov, A. Bendersky, A. Shchur, I. Korol, A. Brusilovsky, P. Vernikov, S. Makarova, and J. Ozolini.
