Kharchenko Oles Mykolayovych

1946

Ukrainian singer (tenor), Shevchenko Prize winner (1985), People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1987).

Biography.

He was born on November 2, 1946, in the village of Shenderivka, Cherkasy region. In 1964-65, he studied at the Veriovka Choir under the direction of S. Pavliuchenko. He performed in the State Bandura Choir.

In 1968-1971, he sang in the men's chapel, now the Revutsky Chapel, and in 1973-75 in the Dumka Chapel. Since 1975, he has been in the "Yavir" quartet. In 1982, he released his first album "Ukrainian Folk Songs". In 1983, he goes on tour to Montreal (Canada) with the group. Winner of the Shevchenko Prize in 1985 - together with Volodymyr Didukh, Roman Ivansky, Yevhen Prudkin, and Valentyn Reus - for the concert programs of 1982-1984.

In 1986, he gave more than 80 concerts for the liquidators of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

1989 - tour in Winnipeg (Canada), American tour (32 cities, 1996), and Toronto (Canada). During this time, two albums were released in Canada by Yevshan Records, and 4 CDs were released in Ukraine.

In 1994, he organized the creation of the male vocal ensemble Favor at the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, whose repertoire includes riflemen's and insurgent songs. And the duet "Oles and Valentyna Kharchenko". In 1998, they recorded the album "For Ukraine, for its freedom" by the Favor Ensemble, and in 2006, "Everything is measured to the bottom with love" by the duo "Oles and Valentyna Kharchenko".

As a member of Yavor, he took an active part in the Orange Revolution.
