Cultural Diplomacy and Support for Ukraine

In 2022, in response to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Keri-Lynn Wilson initiated the creation of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (UFO). The project was realized with the support of the Metropolitan Opera, the Polish National Opera, and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. The ensemble, uniting Ukrainian musicians from various cities in Ukraine and across Europe, has conducted major world tours throughout Europe and the United States.

Key achievements in recent years:

  • "Ode to Joy": Wilson created a new version of the text for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Ukrainian, where the word "Joy" was replaced with "Glory" (Slava). A recording of this symphony by the UFO was released by the Deutsche Grammophon label.
  • Kyiv Camerata: In 2024, she became the music director and chief conductor of this ensemble, becoming only the second person to hold this position in the ensemble's 47-year history.
  • State Honors: In August 2024, the President of Ukraine awarded Keri-Lynn Wilson the Order of Princess Olga for her significant contribution to the promotion of Ukrainian culture and her support for the state.
