Kavatsiuk Ivan Mikhailovich

Ivan Mykhailovych Kavatsiuk (born 21 January 1961, Myshyn, Kolomyia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region) is a musician, People's Artist of Ukraine.

Biography.
Ivan Kavatsiuk was born on 21 January 1961 in the village of Myshyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

After graduating from the Kolomyia Music School in 1987, he studied at the Drohobych Music School, played in the Arkan Folk Instrument Orchestra, and taught at the Children's Music School in Delyatyn (Ivano-Frankivsk region).

In 1986, he entered the Rivne State Institute of Culture (now: Rivne State University of the Humanities), participated in prestigious international competitions and festivals, and became their laureate: 1986 - Baia Mare (Romania), 1987 - Budapest (Hungary), 1988 - Balaton (Hungary), 1989 - Lefkada Island (Greece).

At the first All-Ukrainian Festival "Chervona Ruta" (1989), he met the Bukovyna singer O. Savchuk and together with her created the duet "Pysanka" at the Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic in 1990, which gave concerts in the cities of Ukraine and abroad, popularising the folk song of Bukovyna.

His repertoire includes about a thousand songs of instrumental folk music, dumas, and ballads.

On major Christian holidays, the musician comes to his fans with new concert and television programmes "Pysanochko-Holubochko" (1996) and "Christmas at Pysanka" (1998, 1999, 2003).

In 1996, Kavatsiuk was awarded the International Prize "Friendship", and in 1997 he was awarded the Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1997).

In 2000, he became a laureate of the Regional Literary and Art Prize named after S. Vorobkevych.

In 2008, he was awarded the Order of Merit, third class.
