At the unveiling of a memorial plaque to Ihor Heryta
Ostap Ivanovych Haidukevych was born on November 21, 1941, in Voloshchyna, now Ternopil district, Ternopil region, Ukraine.
He graduated from Terebovlia Cultural and Educational College (1960, now Higher School of Culture), Ternopil Music College, Kyiv Institute of Culture (now National University of Culture and Arts).
He worked as the director of the Monastyrysk District House of Culture, the head of the district music school in Velyki Birky, Ternopil district, the director of Mykulynets Music School, Terebovlia district (1979-1993).
Since 1993, he has been the director of the Ternopil Regional Experimental Integrated School of Arts named after Ihor Hereta.
He headed the board of directors of aesthetic education schools in the region. For over 40 years he has been popularizing Ukrainian and spiritual songs. He led a church choir in his family village, organized and directed choirs in the villages of Voloshchyna and Pryvitne (now Bozhykiv) in Berezhany district.
For more than 12 years, he directed the women's ensemble and the choir "Konar Lemkowyny" at the House of Culture in Soborne village, Ternopil district. For more than 15 years, he has been the director of the Medobory folk choir in the village of Konopkivka, Ternopil district.
As a performer and soloist, he took an active part in the work of the Strusiv Honored Bandura Choir "Kobzar".
